Hi there! I’m Pallavi, a curly hair blogger from Delhi, India. Welcome to my blog where I show you how to take care of your naturally wavy curly hair with easy tips, video tutorials and product recommendations.
Chances are if you grew up with poofy, frizzy hair, you too were bullied throughout school and hated your hair.
Medusa, ‘jungli‘ (wild), jhaadu (broom) unkempt, frizzy, maggi are all nicknames many of us with naturally frizzy hair got while growing up.
Media didn’t show women with our type of hair, unless it was to show how to transform it with serums and products, which never worked.
This self loathing led to low self esteem and confidence. I remember a friend asking me- why can’t you take care of your hair properly?
I mean, I wanted to- I just didn’t know how, except to drench it with oil and tame it to some level or neatness.
Here’s a picture of how my hair used to look a few years back, if I dared to keep it open-
Cue the Hagrid comments!
I so desperately wanted to feel good about my hair that I even got it chemically straightened one day which gave me silky straight hair for only a few months…
And then it became extremely damaged. I lost a LOT of hair.
Also, all those compliments I got, once I did straighten it left me feeling low, because that’s not what I looked like, in reality.
Then one day, I found a video by another curly girl abroad on how exactly I should be combing and styling naturally dry & frizzy hair.
That led to tons of research and I can easily say, it was life-changing.
To the point that while travelling to work in the metro, I had girls coming up to me, telling me what lovely hair I had and how ‘lucky’ I was.
The tips in this blog are from years of experimentation that led to loving my hair, even on its wild frizzy days.
Over time, my tips have also become simpler and less rigid- those of you who are worried about having to strictly follow a routine, needn’t worry.
Take what you like, do what suits- after all, it is YOUR hair.
Don’t let anyone police how you should take care or feel about your hair, especially online.
Try the tips out- I promise, even following some of these tips can help you enjoy hair that’s soft, moisturised, even on it’s ‘bad’ days!
You don’t HAVE to straighten your hair each time to ‘look good for functions’ or get keratin, rebonding or smoothening done, only if you want to- which makes a ton of difference, believe me.
If you’re a newbie on your wavy hair journey or curly hair journey, start by reading through the blog posts I have linked below.

Supriya
atHi Pallavi, thanks a ton!! i got inspired by your blog and hv been following it. I was tired of my cu ft ky,frizzy, fried hair. Now my hair feels the difference just in a month. Still a long way to go but will reach there.
I wanted to know if i can colour my hair? My hair is already too dry. Wil coloring take me back to where i started?? And if colouring is fine the can I use Garnier Colour naturals?
Pallavi Juneja
atHey Supriya, Thank you, so glad you liked it. Colouring can lead to drier hair, esp if you bleach it. It def gets damaged and curl pattern can get spoilt. I would recommend getting it done after your hair is moisturised, strong and healthy for some time. If you do still get it. get olaplex treatment done in the salon to reduce the damage, and put extra effort in deep conditioning often. Whatever brand you use, make sure its ammonia free- quality does matter here

atHi Pallavi,
Just read some of your content. Since last few days I am having some issue with curly hair. It falls flat after drying and also the ends seems to be brittle and straw like after I apply fix my curls conditioner. And also it feels straw like and cannot comb through my hair when dry. Can you suggest something. I have tried almost every deep condition but the hair gets more brittle and flat.
Pallavi Juneja
atHi Megha,I can’t zero in the issue with this- send me an email at pallavijuneja92(@)gmail.com with your hair picture

atHey pallavi , im planning to get my hair coloured ,im having a virgin hair so can you recommend a best colour for me .
Pallavi Juneja
atAny colour is fine as long as its ammonie free and doesn’t require bleaching. If it requires bleaching understand that a change in hair texture is possible along with more frizz and dryness so you’ll need to put in more effort in maintenance

atI have been on my curly journey for 3 months now and I am seeing results . but I was wondering if my waves/curls are being stretched out or weighed down. My hair length is past my butt, and when I scrunch/put in all my products I have 2b-ish hair but for my baby hairs and shorter hairs I have around 2c and 3a hair, do I have a combination hair or is it being weight down by the length?
Pallavi Juneja
atBoth can be true but length definitely stretches out the pattern, more so in wavy or loose curly hair.

atHi Pallavi, I am looking for a salon having experience in curly hair cuts and styling for men. Can you please recommend a few?
Pallavi Juneja
atI don’t know which city youve asked for but I recently tried Happy in the Head in Mumbai and loved it. There’s Deepak Jhalhan in Delhi and there’s a curly hair salon in Hyderabad (Curl Code) and Pune (My hair lady by Liz).

atI have long frizzy wavy hair… using cgm products and done protein treatment with rice water… but not much gain… none of gels give me cast 🙈. Please help… just to mention I cannot cut my hair…suggestions for fixing this will be helpful
Pallavi Juneja
atif frizz is the issue- condition hair properly. After that, apply a leave in – mousse, spray or something light like Ashba leave in
Cherie
atPlease help! I swim everyday in a salt water pool. My curly 2c hair is rapidly turning to frizzy straw. What would you suggest? Are any of the products you suggest available in the US or something that is comparable? Thank you so much.
Pallavi Juneja
atTry to wet your hair and apply leave in – if its absorbed enough leave in,it might not absorb a lot of the salt water. Also, two swimming caps on top of the other. The US might have chelating shampoos- check for those!

atHow often should I wash my hair if I m new to CG method?
Pallavi Juneja
atThis depends on your hair- how sweaty your scalp gets mainly. I usually wash twice in a week if I am not feeling lazy 😛
Shivani Bale
atHey, great blog! Its been almost 3 months I am following all steps suggested by you and have seen drastic differences in my hair from day 1 <3 Could you please also put some suggestions for different types of oils and which ones can get better hair volume?
Pallavi Juneja
atThank you Shivani! Will do a post on oils. I find lighter oils are better since removing them also won’t require excessive shampooing. As for hair volume, try to reduce amount of leave in and apply more gel. You might lose out on some definition but volume will increase. Next, try using a diffuser (with your usual amount of leave in and gel). Diffusing gives a lot of crown volume when done right.

atHi Pallavi ,
LOVED your blog and information . Really I was hating my hair too, as I did not know the right techniques, products and I started to follow CG method (since June 2020) for my very color treated dry straight hair , which has turned out to be wavy now (omg I did not know I have wavy hair ).Now they are more softer , shinier.
Please suggest some good tips to manage hair at a beachy vacation or at a humid place , my hairs looked like mess in my vacation photos.
BIG THANK YOU,
Sakshi
Pallavi Juneja
atHi Sakshi, thank you! Glad you liked the blog! As for humid places, try to avoid products, especially styling, that have glycerine as an ingredient. Next, always use a gel last to keep definition longer! Also, messy hair on vacations is absolutely normal. Learn to groove with it haha!

atHi pallavi! I am planning to start my cgm journey. You are the most promising and real youtuber i could find. My question is is the new loreal Paris 6 oil hair serum cgm friendly?
Is the serum to be applied after using gel?
Pallavi Juneja
atAw thanks Alisha! I will be more regular on Youtube this year so stay tuned! Also, no that serum is not Cg Friendly. Most serums have silicones. You can skip serums and add a few drops of light oils like almond, jojoba at max if you want some shine
johnvictor
atI don’t know about you guys, but I can’t plop for too long or else my (already flat) hair gets super flat and weird around the crown of my head. 10 minutes max of plopping. My hair is on the thinner side but I do really love Curl Keeper original!
Pallavi Juneja
atI plop for 5-10 mins as well and then diffuse 🙂 Curl Keeper Original is fantastic.

atCan we use oil weekly when we start curly hair routine? Also what to do for girls with 3b curls to reduce frizz and doesn’t want much defined curls
?Can U recommend a DIY deep conditioner ?Can we use remedies with egg?
Pallavi Juneja
atYou can oil whenever you want, but I suggest don’t do heavy champi oiling too often as the amount of shampoo needed to remove all of it will actually dry out your hair. So oil lightly before shampooing, wash and style as usual. As for reducing frizz – moisturising the curls and defining them with a conditioner, leave in is what will reduce the frizz. You can also try this- shampoo, rinse, apply creamy conditioner generously to all your hair, finger detangle, wide tooth comb, rinse, squeeze out excess water, smooth on DIY Flaxseed gel. However, if your hair is really 3B, it will benefit from following a proper curly hair routine.
DIY Deep conditioner- Mayo, Curd+banana+honey+few drops of oil, Conditioner + few drops of oil . You can use eggs but dont expect it to act as a protein treatment. That’s a myth. It’s the eggs fatty content that leaves hair shiny. It doesn’t do much beyond that.
shai
atHi Pallavi, do you apply this DC to shampooed wet hair? And shampoo again? Or just wet hair is fine?
Pallavi Juneja
atYes to shampooed, rinsed hair. and no, don’t apply shampoo again unless your dc is like a DIY with banana etc that gets messy
Sanvi Kaushik

atSo excited to finally begin my wavy journey! Sadly, I am a law student and my dress code requires braids or updos. Can you do a post about styling braids and buns in both wash and non-wash days, pretty please?
Pallavi Juneja
atYes I’ll do one! But until then, just do this. Follow the full routine = shampoo+ conditioner+ comb+rinse+ apply leave in/curl cream and then comb once and then comb into a plait. Combing with product on and when it’s wet will take care of the frizz and hydration
