The Bodyshop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter Review- My Holy Grail Hair Mask

The Bodyshop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter Review

If you’re a curly hair girl, you will know (or will learn) that deep conditioning (applying a hair mask) is essential to our curl’s health. It restores hydration, bounce and decreases frizz. I deep condition with The Bodyshop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter For Dry Hair once a week. Do read about my deep conditioning routine, why it may be the one thing you need to ENSURE you do for your curls once every week here.

This Hair Butter is by far, my favourite of the Rainforest Moisture line. The hair masque, like it’s name suggests, has a rich butter like consistency, perfect for curly texture types (3A,3B,3C/4A,4B,4C) which need more moisture & oil than wavy patterns.

I have been happily using it for a couple of months now; NO hair mask has come close to what this does to my hair. No, not even sheamoisture.

I even prefer to use it instead of the conditioner since the slip of this butter is better( butter is always better, no? :P)

The Bodyshop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter Review

Pros:

  1. It is extremely hydrating for my curls.
  2. The slip is fantastic – great for detangling long curly hair.
  3. It gives my curls incredible bounce (like a protein treatment), shine & definition.
  4. I need to use only a small amount – this ensures the product lasts for a long time.
  5. It is not heavy for my hair ( if you’re using this & find it too greasy- decrease the amount).

Cons:

  1. I don’t like the smell too much.
  2. Some girls have found it too heavy for their lighter curls patterns or if they have wavy hair.
    That’s it!

  1. Hi!
Great tutorial.. What about wavy frizzy fine hair? What kind of DC masks would you suggest? Banana mask I’d not washed later with shampoo makes my hair sticky, very very rough and frizzy.
What kind of mask should a semi wavy lot’s of frizz hair require? Some names please.

    • Hi Anu, sheamoisture has a mask for fine hair, check that. Otherwise take your conditioner like enliven, add some honey and use it as a dc, skip the oil.

  2. Hey! What do you mean by the heavy in “….too heavy for their lighter curls patterns or if they have wavy hair..”.

I have somewhat type 2A/2B hair. Will it work good for this hair texture? If not what would you recommend ?

  3. Hey Pallavi,
Been wanting to get this one for a couple of weeks, havent been able to find it in stores or Amazon. You think the Rainforest Radiance butter will be similar? Or should I wait for it to be available?

    • I haven’t tried the radiance one, it’s for coloured hair and my sis has it. I’ll try it and review it! It should be available in a bodyshop store – head down to one and I suggest you get that one only

      • Hello Pallavi! I feel like I’ve found the “mecca” to my curly hair woes on your website. Thank you, it is super helpful.

I was wondering if you had a chance to review the Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter for coloured hair. If so, do let me know where I can find it.

        • Thanks
          Namitha
      • Thanks Namitha! Glad you liked the posts. Yes I’ve tried that hair butter once, works as well as this hair butter. I still prefer this one though!

  4. Nice review pallavi !! Just a small question, can I use this as a leave in ? I’m low porosity with 2c curls.
