After Suma introduced the Reequil Conditioners on Instagram, I knew I had to review it for you guys too!
Since the Loreal Smooth Intense conditioner has gotten discontinued as a result many readers had messaged me asking for alternatives.
Also, between both the conditioners- Reequil Babassu Anti-Frizz and Smoothening Conditioner & Murumuru Damage Repair Conditioner- which one is better?
Is the product worth it’s price?
Can this be used as a leave in conditioner or a co-wash?
Find out all the answers in my review below!

- Octyldodecanol is a thickener used because of its lubricating and emollient properties.

- Astrocaryum murumuru Seed Butter is very fatty, rich ingredient that softens hair

This Damage Repair Conditioner comes with the goodness of natural Murumuru butter that comes from the Amazon rainforests of Brazil. It is a natural alternative to silicone based conditioners and helps in providing adequate moisture, smoothness, shine and lustre to your hair.

Ingredients of Re’equil Murumuru Damage Repair Conditioner
Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Cetyl Esters, Astrocaryum murumuru Seed Butter, Hydrolyzed Pea Protein and Aqua, Isosacchaide Isomerate, Isoamyl Laurate, Orbignya speciosa Kernel Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aspartic Acid, Fragrance
Notes on Ingredients
- Cg Friendly
- Has Protein (Hydrolyzed Pea Protein and Aqua) which will help heat and colour damaged hair
- Cetyl Esters is a synthetic wax that makes a product opaque and as an emollient, thickener and to keep products from separating. It is found in many cg friendly products so I don’t think you need to worry. Not sure if you can use this as a co-wash though.
- Both the conditioners have Murumuru butter and Babassu Oil, just the quanitity of them in each differs.
- The only other ingredients in this, not in the other conditioner are Isosacchaide Isomerate (water-binding agent and emollient) and Isoamyl Laurate (plant- or synthetic-based texture-enhancing ingredient that feels velvety-soft and increases slip)
- Rest everything is same as the Babassu oil conditioner (See this)
How to Apply
As a Conditioner
- After rinsing out the shampoo, part your hair into 2-3 sections.
- Smooth on a dollop of the conditioner to each section, adding more if there are more knots
- Using your fingers, gently detangle from the bottom moving upwards
- Repeat with a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush like Curlkeeper Flexi brush or Tangle Teezer
- Rinse it out completely or rinse out with Squish to Condish method (great for wavy and loose curly hair)
- Style as normal
As a leave-in-conditioner
- Take a spray bottle and add 1 part conditioner and 3 parts water. Mix.
- Spray on freshly washed hair and comb through if you have curly hair.
- Wavy hair peeps just spray well and scrunch in a vertical fashion (also called roping method)
- Apply gel (optional)
- Scrunch, Plop and dry as preferred
Pros
- Super pocket-friendly (Rs.350)
- Had great slip and detangling ability
- Cg Friendly
- One is protein free and one isn’t – you can choose whichever suits better or even alternate depending on your hair’s condition!
- Has fatty butters and oils to keep hair soft
- You don’t need a lot to detangle easily
- Easily available online in India
- Both Murumuru seed butter and Babassu oil are famous across the world for it’s conditioning and softening effect
- Can be used a leave in conditioner to give shiny curls (please follow with a hard hold gel for more clumping)
- AQUAXYL™ that is present in the Babassu Conditioner helps in scalp hydration which makes it good to use as a co-wash
Cons
- Quantity is less– for thicker hair types, I think it won’t last for more than 2-3 weeks
- Re’equil Murumuru Damage Repair Conditioner has cetyl esters which is a wax and while it is not mentioned anywhere as it not being curly girl approved, it apparently dissolves in oil and not water. So using it as a co-wash it not recommended. The other conditioner however can.
Best For
- Anybody who is not using sulphate shampoos
- Has dry and frizzy hair
- Wants moisture for coloured or heat damaged hair
- Is on a tight budget

atHi, i am very new to the CG method and got the murumuru conditioner. I am 3- 4 washes in using this product, and i have noticed, itchy scalp, my hair does not feel light nor my hair soft.. I have long wavy hair, i played around with the quantities, i played it, as a leave in as well. Do u think this is a little rich for wavys, 2b-2c ? Or am i not doing something right ? what would u suggest ?!
Just a view into my routine, I use vilvah goat milk shampoo and giovanni hair foam mousse and requil murumuru conditioner. I do the squish to condish method, all products on dripping hair, plop for 15 and air dry.

atI started using Re’equil Murumuru Damage Repair Conditioner two weeks back. I feel my hair to be more dry on Day 2 after using this conditioner. I am using it as leave in also. I am just 3 months into cg method. First I used, Wow Conditioner for around 3 months and only 2 weeks back I purchased Requil Murumuru conditioner and used it twice now. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but my hair looks very dry after using this conditioner. Have you experienced this with Murumuru conditioner
Pallavi Juneja
atNot at all, the complete opposite of your experience infact. Have you tried using something else as a leave in?

atThank you for the detailed post … really helpful
Is there any way to check which product is protein free and which is not, similarly for moisture too
With Love ✌🏼
Pallavi Juneja
atYes run the ingredients in this website- https://www.curlsbot.com/
You will need to learn basics about what ingredients or protein or give moisture as well.

atNice review pallavi! But you didn’t mention how is anti-fri variant as a ‘cowash’.
Did it clean well? Does it weigh down low porosity hair when used as cowash? (loreal conditioner did, maybe bcoz of oils in it)
Are you now using it as a cowash?
Thank you.
Pallavi Juneja
atIt was okay cleaning – I usually do not like conditioners as co washes unless they have SOME gentle cleansing agent included. How effective it is would depend on how well you use your fingers to scrub out dirt and if you are prone to an oily itchy scalp. In that case, would recommend you co wash less and use a shampoo more.
