How to Protect Your Curls at Night When You Sleep

July 8, 2017

LOVE how your curls look when you wash them only to find them a frizzy, tangled mess the next day?

I used to go through this too. ALL because I didn’t even know there is a special night time routine for curly hair.

It’s very simple & need only two things

  1. Cloth hair band (without any metal dents), a satin scrunchie or Invisibobble
  2. Satin cap/pillowcase!

This small step will reduce tangles in curly hair & protect them from getting smushed. You’ll love how bouncy and frizz free the curls are the next day too! Just remember to refresh them the next morning with some water and leave i conditioner.

Pineapple Method

So the trick is to bring all the hair in the front like I’ve shown below and tie it once or twice so that it hangs in front of your face like a pineapple. 😀

You can also tie your hair into a loose bun in the front of your head.

Once that’s done, cover it with a satin/silk cap as this fabric helps reduce frizz (cotton and other fabrics are bad for your hair as they create friction & hence create more tangles). Alternatively, you can sleep on a satin pillowcase instead of the cap.  This keeps the curls more defined till the next day.

Still confused? Watch the video below where I’ve shown how.

Want to try it out?

Buy Evolve Satin Bonnet on Amazon (Bigger heads or those who don’t want the band to feel too tight on the head)

Get Stay On Satin Bonnet (Snug fit, stays on all night)

Let me know how it works for you in the comments below. Do you use another method to preserve your curls at night? Let me know that too, I’d love to learn!

Don’t forget to compliment this with this video that tells you what to do with your curly hair the next morning:
